Beauty in detritus…
This was a find. I went over to the Allotments in Heptonstall, and found this: a most beautiful bonfire. Probably made with quite a few pairs of hands. Someone had carefully constructed this thing, ready for destruction. That interested me, and I ran home for my camera.
Associations: Witch burning. Dangerous, childhood evenings of fireworks and Guy Fawks.
Yes. Something made to be destroyed. Each component carefully placed.
Cyanotype translates the physicality of that hulk of wood and railway sleepers into translucent beauty. Accidental marks. A thumbprint of brush-stroke, revealing an image. Blue dreaming, on a cold morning.
